Residents Receive Two New
Vans!
November 2007
UTICA – On the morning of
Monday, November 5, staff, families and residents of Heritage Health
Care Center waited eagerly for the arrival of two brand new handicap
accessible vans. At 9am the vans were delivered to the facility and
their drivers were greeted by eager residents, appreciative staff and
families. Through a grant from the New York State Department of
Transportation and supportive funds provided by the Heritage Foundation,
these vans were purchased to replace an existing bus which was used to
transport residents to and from appointments and outings. “With the
addition of the new vans we will be able to provide added transportation
for the residents that reside at our home. "We can’t thank the DOT & the
Heritage Foundation enough for making this possible for our residents.
These vans will enrich the lives of each of our residents on many
levels” stated David Camerota, Executive Director at Heritage. “They’re
great!” stated Tom Williams a resident and Treasurer of the Resident
Council at Heritage. Through the generous support from our local
community and its agencies, this is just one example of how the
residents benefit through the giving nature of our community. Heritage
wishes to extend a special thank you to all who have made this
possible.
Quality Comes First
UTICA- Heritage has a long history of providing quality health care and
service to our community. This is what our Mission and Core Values
promise. Surveys indicate that customer service is the number one factor
patients consider when rating health care. That is what makes it so
important. The perception of care received is at least as important as
the actual health care we provide. We are proud of the ten series of
Customer Service trainings we presented to over 200 staff members. We
are pleased the funding came from a New York State Department of Labor
award we received. The training taught concepts and practices of
providing positive customer outcomes, communication skills and the keys
to customer service success. It was taught by a professional staff from
Utica School of Commerce-The Business College. This grant also funded
Leadership training to 40 members of management staff. It presented key
management concepts necessary to customer service and quality services.
Our Core Values at Heritage are trust, customer service, planning and
accountability. Quality service comes from increasing the number of
right ways we do things, the first time and every time. When we focus on
the positive customer service, we develop the habit of doing things
right and then consistent quality service and care are the result. I
think all of us were raised by the "Golden Rule." No matter how you
recall that rule, it means, do unto others as you would want others to
do unto you." We work hard to ensure that our “Bosses” are the
population in the Mohawk Valley that receive the highest levels of
service and care…and that we do right by each of them.
